Coffee Mill

grinder-2wbp.jpg (19299 bytes)grinder-1wbp.jpg (19065 bytes)This is a cast iron Coffee Mill manufactured by the Charles Parker Company. It stands 12 inches high on a wooden base.  The wheels are 9 inches in diameter.  The raised lettering on the wheels reads "THE CHA'S PARKER CO. MERIDEN. CONN."  The letters on the face of the drawer read "No.200   Pat'd March.9.1897." Most of the original paint and decorations are intact, and it is in good mechanical condition.  I acquired it in 1958.

Bone & Ivory

               Eskimo in Kayak
This detailed carving is 9 inches long and 3½ inches tall. The Kayak is carved from whale jawbone. The eskimo, spear, and paddle are ivory.  The spear and paddle are separate removable pieces.  I obtained this in Barrow, Alaska around 1973.   The Eskimos in many of the coastal villages are allowed to kill one whale per year for sustenance.  Nothing is wasted.
