| Hayward's Hand Fire Grenade,
Cobalt Blue, 6 inches circa 1875-1885 |

| This "grenade" has a sealed stopper, and still has ½ of its contents. There is a round panel with raised lettering on each of the four sides. The front panel reads: HAYWARDS HAND FIRE GRENADE. The left side panel is blank. The right side panel reads: PATENTED AUG 8 1871. The back panel reads: S F HAYWARD 407 BROADWAY NEW YORK. These "Grenades" were made of thin glass with deep grooves so that they would fracture easily when thrown at a fire.. They were filled with a salt water brine solution to extinguish fires. Later Grenades, after the early 1920's, were filled with Carbon Tetrachloride. They were made in a variety of colors and there were racks to hold several of them. |

Blue, and Teal Blue These bottles are 7¼ inches tall with stoppers. The picture does not do justice to the teal blue color. The cobalt bottle still has about ¼ of the original contents. Both bottles are embossed on one side with: HALL'S and on the other with: HAIR RENEWER. The bottom of the cobalt bottle is blank. The bottom of the teal bottle is embossed: R.P.H & Co. G.5. |

blue circa 1920-1925 These bottles have a cathederal pattern on each of the six panels. The larger bottle, with original stopper and labels, is 9¾ inches tall witout the stopper. Embossed lettering on bottom reads: Carters 9 C-101. The middle-size bottle is 8 inches tall. Bottom lettering reads: Carters 10 C-102. The squat bottle is 2¾ inches tall without the stopper. | Wyeth Dose Bottles These bottles are 6¼ and 5½ inches tall. The glass caps, which served as dose cups, have embossed numbers, 1 through 12, around the rim. These numbers were to be aligned with an arrow ^embossed on the neck of the bottle. This arrow is preceded by the words: TAKE NEXT DOSE AT. Both bottles have vertical lettering on one side which reads: JOHN WYETH & BRO. Lettering on the top of the cap of the smaller bottle reads: JOHN WYETH & BROTHER. The top of the larger bottle reads: THIS CUP HOLDS A HEAPING DESSERT SPOONFULL. The bottom of both bottles is embossed: PAT. MAY 16TH 1899 |
